Nordic Ski Training

We offer fully certified Professional Ski Instructor of America (PSIA) and New England Nordic Ski Association (NENSA) coaching and instruction.

Why do I need a nordic ski coach?


Success in Nordic Skiing at Any Level

Successful nordic skiing at any level encompasses learning the important key areas of skiing. Key areas include such things as: skills, abilities, behaviors or specific knowledge. We provide coaching services and solid training of these important areas of nordic skiing, which include:

Physical/physiological preparation: we provide foundations of fitness, endurance development, strength and power development as well as motor skill work.

Training/competition behavior strategy and planning: we assist you in planning training loads, preparing and providing training programs, and the development of competition schedules.

Psychological/emotional/social behavior strategy and planning: mental skills strategy and planning with specific performance enhancing skills.

Technical Skills: all aspects of nordic skiing specific demands such as key skate techniques: V1, V2, V2 Alternate; key classic skiing techniques, striding, double-poling, kick-double poling; ascending, cornering, descending, etc.

Tactical Skills: developing race strategies for events or condition on the course that day.

Equipment knowledge: nordic skiing is heavily dependent on equipment that is working properly and is well maintained. We assist athletes in developing competency in selecting equipment especially for different events, demands or courses. We assist athletes in basic to advanced race day waxing techniques as well as maintaining skis.

Athlete Centered Coaching

Athletes are the most important person in any nordic skiing program. The athlete has the final say in everything, from how hard to ski to when to leave the house for a race. Therefore we are here for you as an advisor, a guide who suggests the best form of action.

Our role as is offer a holistic approach to nordic skiing - whereby we provide coaching in the following key areas:

Training:
We provide nordic skiing specific workouts - the type, volume, intensity, format and other elements. We can train side by side with you or provide workouts via the internet.

Equipment: We provide guidance and direction on selecting the right skiing equipment for training and competition, by being as informed and up to date on the newest options and skiing rules.

Competition: We provide race strategy, tactics, course evaluation, and other race condition advisement.

Lifestyle: We help athletes of all levels to achieve good, healthy habits for training and competing at one's potential. It is our job to know what is good and what is harmful outside of skiing and be able to relay and relate those things to riders.

Career and Love for Nordic Skiing: We provide advice on how to develop a career or life-long interest in the sport of nordic skiing. From family recreational skiing to junior competition, through regional events to aspirations of the Olympics, all the way to masters and recreational nordic skiing.

Performance Enhancement Team (PET): We have a PET network of specialists on whom we can call upon to help make decisions or referrals when needed. We cannot know everything, but the best coaches and professionals know where to find the answers. We work closely with a nutritionist, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, an Exercise Physiologist and other regional coaches to provide the best possible team for you.
